CLOSED Win it: Being Blonde Giveaway!

Jan 6, 2012

image from farm8.staticflickr.comThe weather outside may be quite frightful, but don't let that lower your spirits! It's time to say buh-bye to the winter blues with a stylish upgrade. Banish those blahs with new highlights and a blow out, courtesy of Heather @ Jeffrey Lyle Salon.

I first met Heather a few weeks ago when I won my own highlights + blowout via a giveaway on Radiant Republic. Heather is so sweet and talented and my experience at Jeffrey Lyle was amazing.

The salon is spotless and everyone is extremely nice. Heather and I chatted about everything from The Bar Method (must try), to her previous life in California to Kate Spade sample sales. In addition to being a fabulous stylist, Heather also contributes to the Jeffrey Lyle blog, Being Blonde.

Another thing about the salon that I absolutely love? They're extremely involved in social media. Make sure you're following them on Twitter and Facebook for blog updates and salon news.

Ok, on to the good stuff:

Want to win your own pampering session (highlight+ blowout) with Heather Ward? Simply leave a comment below with your favorite winter hair styling tip to be entered to win.

Giveaway is open to any readers who can make it into the salon's Newbury St location. You have a week to enter and the giveaway will end on Friday, January 13th at noon EST.

Good luck!

Side-heatherAbout Heather: Heather relocated from San Francisco to Boston all for the sake of hair color greatness- to work with Jeffrey Lyle.  Now she's feeling quite at home having become well versed in his methodical technique, free hand Balayage, and writing for their blog.

If I Win, You Win!

Nov 4, 2011

image from farm7.static.flickr.comHey G3B readers,

I just entered a cool contest from Very.com, a British online retailer that just launched in the US. Very.com is awarding 10 bloggers clothing for life in the form of $1,000 in clothing for 20 years!

I'd love it if you would give me a vote- I don't need to win, just remain in the top 10.

So what's in it for you? If I make the top 10, I want to share my winnings with you. It's as simple as voting (honor system, people) and leaving a comment here saying that you did. If I make the top 10, I'll award 2 readers with $100 of my winnings.

Voting ends November 9th, so do it soon.

Yay!

CLOSED Elegantees: Fashion + Justice

Nov 2, 2011

image from www.elegantees.com
What do you get when you combine cute clothing and a cause? Elegantees- a brand of fun, colorful t-shirts with purpose.

Katie Behnke, the founder, started Elegantees with the goal of using her profits to fight sex trafficking in Nepal. She hopes to be able to use those profits to actually go to Nepal to teach women to sew. That way, they will be able to remain sustainably employed and no longer have to sell their bodies to survive. You can read more about it here.

I love the company's values of supporting modesty, fighting injustice and helping those in need through education and employment. Elegantees is all about looking good, but more importantly, feeling good. Plus, these aren't your average t-shirts- they're fun, flirty and oh-so-soft. Most tops are $20 or less, and all profits go to Katie's efforts in Nepal.

Elegantees will definitely be a part of my holiday shopping and I hope you consider this brand when making your own holiday lists.

image from www.elegantees.comWant to win an Elegantee of your own? Great! All you need to do is leave a comment with your favorite style below, and you'll be entered to win a $20 credit.

Sweepstakes ends on November 8th. Winner will be chosen randomly and will be notified via email on or around that date.

Plus, you can use this special code to get 15% off on all orders: goodgirl15.

PS- Katie sent me this hot pink Michele top and it's amazing- I actually wore it as part of my Halloween costume! Can't wait to wear it for real :)

Sep 27, 2011

image from farm7.static.flickr.comHow gorgeous is this piece from One of a Kind Jewelry Design? When Karin told me I could pick out a piece of jewelry, I knew exactly what I wanted. The bracelet above is just so much fun!

You've all heard of the "arm party" concept by now, and this cuff makes it easy to have your own with just one piece of jewelry!

image from farm7.static.flickr.comIf you squint hard enough, you may be able to read the adorable engraved tag on the clasp- it says "one of a kind", which is the perfect description for this and all of Karin's pieces.

image from farm7.static.flickr.comI love the mix of colors, textures and materials of this piece, and the fact that it's all I need to jazz up an otherwise simple outfit.

Want to start your own arm party (or maybe a finger party, or a neck party)? Well, nows your chance to win any piece of jewelry, up to $90, from One of a Kind Jewelry. Simply leave a comment below with your favorite piece from Karin's shop for your chance to win.

Win It: INPINK Jewelry

Sep 13, 2011

image from farm7.static.flickr.com

(Reminder: Please help me win $200 in the TJMaxx/Marshalls Mad Men Challenge. Vote here.)

Have you heard about INPINK? It's a new online jewelry boutique where you can shop by individual piece, or get huge discounts by buying an entire collection!

Looking for something stunning and affordable? INPINK is the place for you! I was given a $50 gift card to purchase my choice of baubles, and ended up going for the Westchester Collection. It was VERY difficult for me to choose just one collection, but I loved the intricate details of the Westchester. I was worried the pieces would seem flimsy and cheap due to the great price, but was pleasantly surprised.

image from farm7.static.flickr.comThe pieces look expensive, but the whole set--necklace, earings, ring and two bangles-- cost just $49! The bangles are definitely my favorite, and I also love the adjustable wring. The back looks like it wouldn't move, but it's cleverly strung on some sort of stretchy string, so it looks like one piece of metal, but really it stretches to fit your fingers.

And the best part? INPINK is giving away 50 $40 gift certificates to Good Girl Gone Blog readers! There are two ways to enter:

1) Like The Good Girl Gone Blog and INPINK on Facebook

2) Follow @goodgrlgoneblog and @INPINKstyle on Twitter

Make sure you fill out the  form so we can get you your prize! Giveaway will run through Monday September 19th. 50 winners will be drawn randomly. US and Canada only.

Alo Giveaway Winner

Feb 9, 2011

AloCongrats to Heather, who was randomly chosen as our alo giveaway winner. I loved her comment as well:

"I have a funny yoga story. Of course, I think anyone who has ever taken yoga has a funny yoga story. I decided to start taking yoga, so I signed up through some online deal for "therapeutic yoga." I read a little about it on the website, it seemed simple enough, and I figured all yoga has to be similar, right?

So I showed up for my yoga class last week, and the instructor looked at me kind of strangely. I chose to ignore it, but did think it was kind of funny that the only other person in there was probably 80. We began the class as people trickled in, and she asked if anyone was having any trouble. As a few people said hips, and another person said knees, I looked around. Everyone was in the 70-80 range. I'd signed up for old people yoga! I don't care, though. I paid for the classes - I'm going!"

Win it: alo Giveaway

Feb 2, 2011

Alo As you know, I'm trying to embrace a healthier lifestyle (aren't we all!) by looking at what I eat and hopefully becoming more active. Something I have yet to try recently is yoga and I want to change that.

Though my first yoga experience was a little scary (the instructor man was wearing very short shorts and I saw a little too much), I'm definitely willing to try again. The only thing missing? Cute yoga clothes.

...and that's where alo comes in. alo, which stands for "air, land, ocean" is an environmentally conscious company that makes stylish active wear you'd be proud to sport at even the most posh yoga studio. (Learn more here.)

I definitely encourage you to check out this video below to get a better feel for the brand:

The lovely folks at alo were kind enough to send over a cute purple Warm Up Hoodie with matching Reversible Pants in size xs.

image from farm6.static.flickr.com I love the detailing on the hoodie- the ruched sides give the jacket a stylish edge and I love the contrasting lavender zipper that matches the lining.

image from farm6.static.flickr.com The pants, though a little too long for my 4'11" frame, will fit a lot better with a little alteration. I think in general, the xs would probably fit someone who wears a size 2, as the pants and jacket were both just a little too big.

image from farm6.static.flickr.com Oh, did I mention there are thumb holes? I love thumb holes!

image from farm6.static.flickr.com Interested in winning your own outfit from alo? Here's how:

To enter:

- like alo on facebook

- leave a comment here telling me that you entered.

Details: Contest will run from Wednesday February 2 @ 12:00 pm - Wednesday February 9 @ 12:00 pm. Winner will be announced shortly after. Open to US residents only.

And the Winner is...

Congratulations to Marianne- she's the lucky winner of a pair of boots from Shoeline, worth up to $200.

Thanks everyone for participating and for giving your feedback on my 7 looks. It's exciting to note that your overall favorite outfit was A Twist on the Tutu, which was probably one of my favorite outfits as well.

Didn't win this time? Well, there's still some good news: Shoeline is offering 15% off Born, Sofft, Softspots, Korkease, Carolina, and Double H boots. Check out their Facebook page on Monday for a special coupon code!

PS- thanks to a suggestion from a Shoeline Facebook fan, I invested in some leather lotion and protector spray to keep my boots looking clean and new. By the end of the 7 days, my boots were starting to get covered in salt, and I felt a little uncomfortable wearing them with nice outfits.

Let me tell you, this stuff works wonders and is a necessity for anyone that deals with harsh winter weather. Get your own here for around $15. It's totally worth it, trust me.

PPS- Another exciting review and giveaway will be up on Wednesday!
