LOFT Grand Re-opening Party

pom pom wristlets Patterned eyelet striped shorts Ladies shopping at LOFTJust a few snaps from LOFT's grand re-opening party at the Prudential Center, hosted by Blog Better Boston (aka me + Amy) and the adorable girls behind Holly Dolly and So Anthro. We had an absolute blast chatting with local blogger friends, readers and other stylish Bostonians.LOFT petite dressesTheir latest collection is very colorful and on-trend. I love their maxi dresses (available in petite- woo!) and shorts, especially. It was great to see so many of my favorite local ladies, plus LOFT gave all of the hostesses a gift card to buy an outfit for the event. I was immediately drawn to the dress I chose (above left, available here), and Amy helped find a matching belt.

In fact, it looks like my dress is now available at 40% off!  I just might have to pick up a new pair of sunglasses because they had so many to choose from! Here's Holly rocking a pair- we had a blast goofing off and posing in different options:

Holly in LOFT sunglassesThanks to Amy for putting this event together and for getting Blog Better Boston involved. On a side note, I'm THRILLED that we finally took a good picture together. In the entire history of Blog Better Boston, we had yet to actually take a nice photo together- this one is from Amy's blog:

Labworks: Petite Friendly Collection @ Target.com

431735_511298628883011_2079531650_nI saw the above posted on the Target Style Facebook page and was immediately intrigued. I clicked through to check out the Labworks collection (available exclusively online) and loved it! The pieces look like more stylized versions of classic pieces (the LBD, the sequin tank, etc) that could easily become wardrobe staples and the building blocks of tons of great outfits

Though the prices are a little higher than other pieces at Target (other than the designer collaborations), they're still way lower than similar pieces from other stores. Plus, they have a petite collection, which seems to include 21 different items.

You get free shipping if you spend $50 (which you'll hit if you buy 1-2 pieces) and I'm really looking forward to checking it out and reporting back!

Here are a few of my favorite petite options:

Brand Love: Tart Collections

image from farm9.staticflickr.comTart Collections has been one of my favorite brands for a few years now. I love the bright colors, fun patterns and especially the super soft fabrics. Tart’s pieces seem to be universally flattering, especially in the pieces that use draping and ruching techniques, perfect for those of us with curves.

I was lucky enough to show off my love for Tart at the recent Lucky FABB conference in NYC. Tart let me pick out two pieces and I anxiously awaited their arrival. Worried they wouldn’t arrive in time, I packed an alternative outfit that I just couldn’t get excited about. With just hours left before I had to board the bus to NYC, my package arrived. It was a pre-fashion week miracle!

Perfectly Petite Mint Denim

image from farm8.staticflickr.comI've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of petite mint denim for a few weeks now. My requirements:

  1. Reasonably priced (because they're super trendy and not a classic "forever" piece)
  2. Petite-friendly
  3. Good quality
  4. Good fit
  5. Not so thin that the pockets bulge.

Surprisingly, #5 was the hardest characteristic to find. Though these ASOS Petite Exclusive Mint Green Skinny Jeans #4 definitely show the pockets a little (that's what happens with skinny jeans in a light shade), they still passed my test.

Outfit Details: Sweater- BR (on sale here); Denim- Asos (here), Top- Loehmann's; Necklace- Sophie; Shoes- c/o Me Too, Colorblock bangle- DIYed.

I had so much fun putting this outfit together. It definitely falls into the new style profile I'm hoping to achieve- contemporary, sophisticated and with a big of girly edge.

It's on sale online for $89.99 + 30% off, which is a pretty good price for a classic piece, but you can find it even more deeply discounted in store (I think I got it for around $30-$40 on final sale).

And just a little pro tip when shopping at ASOS, go a size up! I'm not sure if it's because British people wear their clothes a bit tighter than we do, or if the sizes just run small, but I got a size 2 (I'm typically a size 0/25 in denim) and it fit perfectly.

Have you jumped on the mint denim trend?
