Stylish Snippet: Tron Inspired

image from 4.bp.blogspot.com Picture 2 Picture 1 Good hair, great legs, killer eyeliner- yes, I've been inspired by a character from every geek boy's dreams. Though we didn't really enjoy Tron Legacy, I'm definitely pulling a lot of great inspiration from Quorra, the movie's female lead.

I'm not saying that I'm going to go full-out-futuristic on you, but don't be surprised if a pair of faux-leather leggings pop up in a future outfit post. Ooooh the possibilities!

Faux-leather leggings + chunky sweater + great boots = perfection. I already have the boots and sweater, now I just need the leggings. Do you like the look?

A few of my favorite designs/campaigns from around the Web. Click the photos for sources. Enjoy!6a01127947363b28a40134860ac8e4970c-580wiThis is awesomely disturbing. Who knew they were so similar looking?

Window-1-en Although I was disturbed by the sexual tones in Diesel's recent "sex sells" ad campaign, Lush's "Lovely Jubblies" just made me laugh. I love how real these photos look. I'm sure it was a fun campaign to shoot! The teacups are my favorite :)

I believe you already know how much I adore Stila's Travel pallettes. The new one for August is so cute. I'm a sucker for good illustrations.

Sometimes people see me with my D5000 and assume I'm some crazy talented photographer, simply because it has a big lens. I always say that I'm "still learning," but that my dad is a photographer and he has the really big camera. The next question is always, "wait, your dad is a professional photographer?" I always answer no, he's not, he's a real estate appraiser, but he's really, really good.

AK10-2405 A few weeks ago, my dad had the opportunity to go to Alaska to do some appraisal work. He jumped at the idea not because he was pumped about the appraisal, but because he'd be able to take pictures.

The amazing photographs throughout this post are all his. He originally started with around 2,000 and then narrowed down his favorites to about 150. It was hard for me to pick just a few to share, but I couldn't put 150 photos in one blog post! (You can see the rest here.)AK10-2849

AK10-3181 Sure, you could say his pictures turn out so well because he has an expensive camera, but I know better. It's about more than just a camera doing its job. To be a true photographer, you need to be able to see beauty everywhere and capture it through a lens. Many of my dad's photos boast extra vibrant, almost unrealistic color, but that's because it's what he sees. It's his own personal style and I love it.

Inspired by: Joshua Radin

Joshuaradin
After a very tumultuous and trying week, I almost forgot that I had tickets to the Joshua Radin concert last night. I've had a bit of a crush on him ever since my cousin Dahlia first shared his music with me three years ago. Jenni gave me some more of his music (and convinced me his last name was pronounced rah-din instead of ray-din...apparently she was wrong) and my crush only got more intense.

Flash forward to this summer in the springpad office. I find out one of my coworkers has Joshua's new-ish CD on his iTunes, and I can't stop listening. Rachel and I look him up on Wikipedia as part of the age guessing game and realize that he's short, like really short...and he's sort of 35. Still, even though he doesn't pass my height test, I'd still marry him in an instant...If only he were 10 years younger!

Flash forward to last night at the House of Blues in Boston.

I couldn't stop yelling "I love you!" to the stage, and I must have squeezed Rachel's hand about a million times in excitement when Joshua played my favorite songs. Seeing him in concert only reaffirmed my love for him. His stories were funny, his "whisper rock" breathy and beautiful, and his new more "rock n' roll" songs extremely catchy.

I think my favorite JR story described the inspiration behind the song "No Envy, No Fear," a song he admits to playing for himself every night. Joshua described the jealousy and self doubt he initially felt when entering the music business, and how he finally decided to do something about it.

Instead of being jealous of something you think you want, turn that jealousy into inspiration. If you can do this, you'll be a much happier person. And you know what? I think that's just beautiful, and I might make it into my new life mantra.
