Simple Holiday Tablescape

Simple holiday tablescape

Eric's mom graciously sends us beautiful glass Christmas ornaments every year, and because we don't have a tree, I'm never sure exactly what to do with them. This year, I decided to incorporate them into a fun tablescape using two of my favorite Chanukkah presents I received from Eric this year: these CB2 Chamber Vases.

DSC_0059The vases themselves are very cool, and I imagine we'll be using them quite often. They have two separate chambers- a small section and a large section- which makes them ultra versatile. They can be used to hold flowers, candles, snack foods...even beautiful Christmas ornaments and leftover gift bag filler.

DSC_0061DSC_0085The table runner is actually a scarf of Eric's that we ironed and draped over our coffee table, while the (lavender scented) candle was a Homegoods impulse buy. The beautiful bird themed candelabra was a gift from my mom that we found it at a thrift store!

I wanted to keep the display pretty neutral, but you can definitely make it more holiday specific.

Want to create a similar display of your own? Here's what you'll need:

- Vases of varying heights

- Ornaments or colorful objects to fill the vases

- Tissue paper or gift bag filler

- Fabric for the runner

- Any other pretty objects of different heights and colors that you'd like to incorporate (we actually used the ornament boxes)

It was so fun and easy, I'm hoping to change up the tablescape quite often- maybe even make it a monthly thing!

New Year, New Office

New-year-new-officeI'm so excited to announce that our office makeover is finally underway! We've recently cleared out our old desks and are in the process of chucking an old rug and a mismatched storage system.

Above, you'll find the color scheme we're working with- typical black computer chairs, new white desks (with silver legs) from Ikea, and a fabulous new rug c/o Rugs USA (who PS is having an awesome 50% off holiday sale) which should be arriving in January- thus the new year, new office!

Here's where you come in- we still need decor help! I'm not the best at matching, so help is much appreciated. Can't wait to show you more soon!

Makeover this Room: A new G3B Project

DSC_0148Hi, my name is Alana and I spend the majority of my time working from home...from the couch. Sounds great, right? Well, the working from home part is pretty awesome, but the couch thing is starting to get old. While I do have a desk (I'm actually sitting at it as I type), I'm not too fond of it, nor the room in which it sits.

You see, I have a "home office", but it's a mess. It also serves as my closet. It's a hodge-podge of clothing, office items and random things we didn't want in the other rooms of our apartment. I like parts of the room (i.e. my shoe wall), but they just don't fit together. Which is why it's time for a change. It's time to get my butt of the couch and turn this space into somewhere I actually want to spend my day.

It's the ugly duckling of the apartment and I hate being in it.

But here's the hard part- I have NO idea how to make this room work, which is why I'm posting about it on my blog. I'm hoping that you, my readers, the Internet, etc, may have some ideas for me- where to shop, what to look for, how to bring this room together.

Who's with me?
