#Likeablefieldday

If you follow me on twitter, you know I did a lot of tweeting with the hashtag #likeablefieldday. Well, #likeablefieldday was  a cool event hosted in New York by Likeable for both the Boston and NY offices.

It was a fun way to hang out with coworkers, meet the NY interns and get a little silly. Here are a few of my favorite photos:

Mmmmm, Mmmm good

So a little while ago, I promised you a post centered around the letter "M." Why M you ask? Well, because it's the letter LittleSack over at Navigating the Quarterlife gave me! I do really love her blog, and when I saw she was playing the letter game, I wanted to participate too, because hey, I like her and I like letters. A lot. As in, I'm kind of a scrabble nerd, but let's not get into that now.

Anyway, the rules of the game are simple: List your 10 favorite things that begin with your assigned letter.

So here we go:

1) Macaroni and cheese- so delicious...especially my mom's "Cowboy Mac N Cheese" recipe. I attempted to make it once when I lived in Israel. I think I got confused about the amount of jalapenos, because damn that stuff was hot! And hey, Mom begins with M too!

2) Magazines- my current favorite is Glamour. One of my guilty pleasures is reading a magazine in the airport. I find a quiet corner in the terminal, grab a quick (and overpriced) snack, and get my fill of superficiality. Pure bliss.

3) Mango Green Tea- so yummy :)

4) My Fair Lady- I know I've already spoken about my love for all things Audrey Hepburn. She's fabulous. Plus, I've always enjoyed singing Eliza's songs in front of the piano as well as in the shower. (Great, now I have the lyrics to "Show Me" stuck in my head.)

5) Moisturizer- I'm currently OBSESSED with J&J's "soft" line. It's supposed to relieve stress, and I actually think it does. I love putting it on at night post-shower and then waking up to delicious smelling sheets.

6) Megan- yes, I know she kills plants and tries to make me like Coldplay, but I still like her.

7) Macs- since I don't have any children of my own (which is a good thing), I like to consider my macbook my baby. Plus, you know how I feel about Mac Geniuses...

8) Marie Digby, Missy Higgins, Maroon 5, Michael Buble, Marc Broussard...- can you tell I just went into my iTunes to find artists whose names begin with M? Clearly my iTunes collection contains other M artists, but these are some of the best. I particularly like MD's cover of You Give Me Something by James Morrison. He's really good too, and technically, his last name starts with M, so he can be part of this list too.

9) Miel et Cannelle- I don't even remember how I found this blog, but I'm so glad I did. I love the beautiful photos. Also, I must confess that I have no idea what the title means, but I imagine it's something fitting. My Spanish/Hebrew skills don't help in the French department.  Andrea is so adorable and I love when she leaves me comments. Go read her blog...now!

10) (Honey) Mustard- if there was a condiment contest, this one would win. It goes with everything, including my current favorite  dining hall sandwich: whole wheat bread, hummus, honey mustard, provelone, lettuce, tomatoe and cranberry sauce. It's like the vegetarian's slightly strange Thanksgiving sandwich! Oh, and just an FYI I hate all other kinds of mustard, so don't go spreading some yellow mustard on my hot pretzel.

So, in keeping with the rules of the game: if anyone wants a letter, just ask.

Revisiting my childhood in Dana's basement

Hello from lovely Harrison, NY! I'm currently sitting on the couch with four other girls from my a cappella group. We're really pumped to be here and glad we survived the drive. Let me tell you, everything they say about New York drivers is absolutely true. I was a little bit worried for my life.

We have now made it to "The Ellis Fun Zone" aka Dana's basement, which is full of treasures such as a pinball machine and this little gem:

I distinctly remember riding these guys at the Baltimore zoo. Do you have a favorite childhood toy?

Love, Alana and Rachel L.

PS- expect an exciting post revolving around the letter "M."

Insert clever title about hanukkah, my dog or the warm weather at home here

I'm writing from the beautiful, balmy Baltimore, where it is currently 42 degrees. Yesterday, when I left Boston,  it was a chilly 14. Needless to say, I'm loving the "hot" weather down here and the lack of snow.

I've had a pretty lazy day today- nothing too exciting. The wireless internet is down, which means I'm forced to use the ancient family desktop which is a PC. I'm going through Mac withdrawal right now and I feel like a snob.

Oh, did I mention tonight is the first night of (C)han(n)uk(k)a(h), the holiday witha  million spellings? Well, it is, and my whole family is coming over to celebrate! That means lots of kids, tons of food and presents. It also means we'll get to whip out my mom's dreidel bag, which has spinning tops of all shapes, sizes and colors. While you traditionally play dreidel with money, or "gelt," we use M&Ms. It's always fun, we just have to make sure the dog doesn't partake!

Speaking of the dog, now that I'm home I have to walk him, and he's been bugging me ever since I asked him if we should "go write a blog post," which apparently sounds like "go for a walk." Go figure.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye (due to a stiletto)

I found this online carnival favorite with a twist last night when I was catching up on "The Starter Wife" online. This by no means signifies that I want to whack any of my exes on the head with a purse/shoe/bottle of wine/mallet. To be quite honest, I actually inputted a picture of a squirrel...

Keep in mind kids, it's just a game. I am definitely not advocating hitting your ex/arch enemy (aka squirrel) with any dangerous objects. But it's really fun!

This looks dangerous

Kids, don't try this at home, especially if you're under 21. And if you happen to live in a frat house with a swimming pool, do not, I repeat, do not show this to your frat brothers. They'll probably think it's a good idea, which it is not...and someone, probably a poor innocent freshman girl, will get hurt.

Special thanks to my dad for bringing this "innovative" invention to my attention. Check it out!

Exploring Boston

This past Saturday, a bunch of COM kids (COM Ambassadors, specifically) assembled in the COM lounge and awaited instructions. They were given a list of different places throughout the city with corresponding point values depending on location and difficulty. They divided into groups of three or four and were given $50 in travel money. The only rules: each location needed to be documented on a single camera.

My group got 33 points. We spent our money on Starbucks and a last minute cab ride. We also pocketed $8.50 each in unused money. I think that should count for something.

Below are a few of the photos:
