Labworks: Petite Friendly Collection @ Target.com

431735_511298628883011_2079531650_nI saw the above posted on the Target Style Facebook page and was immediately intrigued. I clicked through to check out the Labworks collection (available exclusively online) and loved it! The pieces look like more stylized versions of classic pieces (the LBD, the sequin tank, etc) that could easily become wardrobe staples and the building blocks of tons of great outfits

Though the prices are a little higher than other pieces at Target (other than the designer collaborations), they're still way lower than similar pieces from other stores. Plus, they have a petite collection, which seems to include 21 different items.

You get free shipping if you spend $50 (which you'll hit if you buy 1-2 pieces) and I'm really looking forward to checking it out and reporting back!

Here are a few of my favorite petite options:

Container Store Grand Opening @ The Northshore Mall

DSC_0006 DSC_0006DSC_0006A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending a blogger preview lunch at the newest Container Store location, the Northshore Mall! If you know me well, you know I'm a big fan of products that help you organize, so this was like entering paradise for me.

Whether you're looking for kitchen items, trash cans (I thought the veil was a super cool option), closet organization or office supplies, The Container Store has a little something for everyone. The best part? There are products to fit every budget! You can buy a plastic tube hanger for $0.32 or an entire customized Elfa closet for 100s of dollars!

DSC_0028DSC_0028It was also really great to learn more about the company, which has been around for over 34 years! My favorite of their 7 founding principles

Screen Shot 2012-10-29 at 1.02.01 PMThe Container Store seems like it's not only a great place to shop, but an amazing company to work for- they're an "employees first" company that has made Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list year after year.

DSC_0008DSC_0008They also threw a KILLER party that night. There was a live band, drinks galore and a fun party atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to my epic cold, I wasn't able to taste anything, but I hear the food was delicious!

I highly recommend you stopy by your local Container Store or check out their website for great organizing products and fantastic gift ideas!

Day Trip: Good Harbor

[gickr.com]_52e50ea9-d84f-e6e4-4148-546157313b13

Yesterday, we loaded up the car (Maggie, water, dog toys, camera) and headed up to Gloucester to take Maggie out for some beachy fun. There were dogs EVERYWHERE! It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The drive up was absolutely gorgeous. There is truly nothing like New England in the fall.

Sleep Naked with Swisspers: It's Giveaway Time!

Swi8387-01_SMInfluencerEngagement_Asset3_v03_20121009 (1)If you missed last week's #SleepNaked Twitter party, the true meaning of "National Sleep Naked Night" was a night where we discussed...makeup removal! Do you take off your makeup/wash your face every night? I certainly slip up and forget more often than not!

The problem with not taking off your makeup before bed? According to Swisspers:

"Studies have shown that 50 percent of women do not remove their makeup daily, and of those that do, 80 percent don’t do it properly. Skipping this step can cause all sorts of skin problems, including irritation, acne, eye infections and premature aging."

You can check out the Sleep Naked campaign on the Swisspers Facebook page, where you can vote for your favorite "naked" celebrity. The celeb with the most likes will win $10,000 that will go to the charity of their choice.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

And now it's time for a giveaway! Want to win a $50 gift card and a year's supply of Swisspers? Simply enter below!

*Thank you to Swisspers for sponsoring this post. Opinions are my own.

Designer Collaboration Crush: Minnie Mortimer for Three Dots

MinnieMortimer_Coter#DFCD72I'm pretty excited about this designer collaboration. I love all things Three Dots (I'm actually currently wearing a Three Dots top the company gifted me this spring) and love that they're collaborating with fresh, young American designer, Minnie Mortimer.

From the press release:

“Minnie was the perfect fit for this Three Dots collaboration,” said Three Dots’ Creative Director, Jadie Kadletz, who worked closely with Mortimer on the line. “She, in every sense, evokes what Three Dots stands for: Pure. Effortless. Luxury.”

“It was an ideal collaboration, given that Minnie’s cool and classic sense of style resonates so well with our Three Dots woman,” said Three Dots Founder and CEO, Sharon Lebon. “The collection stays true to Minnie’s bi-coastal style with classic red and navy stripes, vibrant colors and fun prints in ten different dress silhouettes.”

The line is definitely not cheap (pieces range from $100-$300), but the Three Dots quality is amazing and their pieces timeless enough to become wardrobe staples.

I definitely encourage you to check out Minnie's own collection over on her site- I'm all about the simplicity and fun use of color. (Also, this may be the cutest bikini I've ever seen.)

Gatsby Inspired Beaded Top

DSC_0004As soon as I saw this beautiful, intricately beaded top at Nordstrom Rack, I knew it had to be mine. Though I ignored it on the first shopping trip, it remained on my mind until I went back and finally purchased it.

DSC_0002Also on my mind? Hanging this shirt up by an open window with daylight streaming in. I knew the lighting + sheer fabric would make for a beautiful photo.

DSC_0005Doesn't it remind you of the roaring 20's? I feel like I'd blend right in wearing this to one of Jay Gatsby's famous soirees!

Best of all? The Nordstrom Rack price was half off the original price, so while it wasn't a steal, I still felt the satisfaction of seeing the 50% price drop. I can't wait to figure out how to wear it.

Here's a similar version by the same brand, Willow & Clay, that's just as cute...but twice the price ;) If you're looking to add a little 20's flair to your wardrobe, I highly recommend you head over to Nordstrom Rack- they had a few different sheer, beaded tops to choose from.

National Sleep Naked Night...it's for Charity!

Swi8387-01_SMInfluencerEngagement_Asset1_v03_20121009
This Wednesday, I'll be participating in a special #SleepNaked Twitter party. I can't tell you the details yet, but I promise, it's completely PG and is going to be a ton of fun. There will be prizes, tips and a great charity component.

I'm not usually a big fan of Twitter parties, but I found this one amusing and think it's going to be fun. You can follow me on Twitter for hints about the party, but you won't get any details until it starts!

Who's in? (And who's curious?)

*This is a sponsored campaign, but opinions are my own. I can't actually reveal the sponsor yet, but it's a fun one!

Makeover this Room: A new G3B Project

DSC_0148Hi, my name is Alana and I spend the majority of my time working from home...from the couch. Sounds great, right? Well, the working from home part is pretty awesome, but the couch thing is starting to get old. While I do have a desk (I'm actually sitting at it as I type), I'm not too fond of it, nor the room in which it sits.

DSC_0152
You see, I have a "home office", but it's a mess. It also serves as my closet. It's a hodge-podge of clothing, office items and random things we didn't want in the other rooms of our apartment. I like parts of the room (i.e. my shoe wall), but they just don't fit together. Which is why it's time for a change. It's time to get my butt of the couch and turn this space into somewhere I actually want to spend my day.

It's the ugly duckling of the apartment and I hate being in it.

But here's the hard part- I have NO idea how to make this room work, which is why I'm posting about it on my blog. I'm hoping that you, my readers, the Internet, etc, may have some ideas for me- where to shop, what to look for, how to bring this room together.

Who's with me?

Fashionably Late: Nordstrom

This Post is Brought to You by Nordstrom. DSC_0045 Last night, Eric and I attended the Nordstrom Fashionably Late event at the Liberty Hotel. Though I'd heard about the epic fashion shows that go on at the Liberty, this was my first time actually attending one.

The space itself was amazing. My first thought when I walked in was "I want to get married here". The hotel is actually an old jail that's been converted into a hotel with an excellent bar area with multi levels, perfect for a fashion show!

DSC_0030

DSC_0035Before the show started, Nordstrom makeup artists were on hand doing mini makeovers featuring the latest beauty trends. Apparently, red lips are very in this season, so my question was, how is this different than every other season? Aren't red lips always in? Apparently, this season's red lip is "creamier" than in the past.

DSC_0039In addition to the creamy red lip, winged eyeliner is back and bolder than ever!

DSC_0057The whole event was like a fashion symposium, even before the actual show started. Eric snapped this picture by accident and says it's his favorite from the night.

DSC_0061

DSC_0093DSC_0102

DSC_0107DSC_0133DSC_0144There were so many great, wearable looks. I loved the simple hairstyles, the bold colors and extreme texture variation. Faux fur and leather were a huge part of the show, as were super tall booties and heels with spike details. Skirt lengths were more modest than I expected, making them totally wearable for the average person.

Special thanks to Eric for playing the role of photographer!

Disclosure: I was compensated for this post, but opinions are entirely my own.
