Brand Love: Tart Collections

image from farm9.staticflickr.comTart Collections has been one of my favorite brands for a few years now. I love the bright colors, fun patterns and especially the super soft fabrics. Tart’s pieces seem to be universally flattering, especially in the pieces that use draping and ruching techniques, perfect for those of us with curves.

I was lucky enough to show off my love for Tart at the recent Lucky FABB conference in NYC. Tart let me pick out two pieces and I anxiously awaited their arrival. Worried they wouldn’t arrive in time, I packed an alternative outfit that I just couldn’t get excited about. With just hours left before I had to board the bus to NYC, my package arrived. It was a pre-fashion week miracle!

The dress above is called the Jackie Dress and it’s part of Tart’s fall collection. It’s super comfy and comes in a few fun patterns. Plus, it includes a belt that adds a little contrast to the look. With a few simple alterations (taking in the armpit/sleeves), this dress fits perfectly. Thank goodness my step grandmother is an expert seamstress and was able to swap my safety pins for a more permanent solution, post conference, of course.

Remember how I said Tart sent over two dresses? Well, the other one was a bit of a fashion leap for me. Maxi dresses aren’t typically recommended for petite girls, but after seeing Jean pull off the trend so beautifully, I had to go for it with the Mae Maxi. I’m not gonna lie, the dress was definitely too long for my petite frame, but nothing too tough for my step grandmother to fix. It’s still in Baltimore being worked on, but I can’t wait to show it off on the blog as soon as I get it back.

Hopefully the photo above gives you a better idea of what the dress looks like on a Zappos model…and on Heidi Klum! In terms of alterations, my step grandmother needed to take in the halter to raise the draping and shorten the hem about 2 inches.

Special thanks to Tart for providing me with these two dresses. As always, opinions are my own.
