DIY Teacup Planters

Teacup planters1This DIY is so simple, I'm not even sure I should call it a DIY. Basically, I had an entire set of teacups that I never use (seriously, they're way to small for a real cup of tea!) and needed to find a cute and functional use for them. Here's how I did it:

image from farm8.staticflickr.comimage from farm8.staticflickr.comimage from farm8.staticflickr.comimage from farm8.staticflickr.comYou'll need:

- Unwanted teacups

- Potting soil

- Succulent plants of your choice (I used a Hen and Chicks plant)

Directions:

- Fill teacup about 1/3 with soil

- Add a few chicks (or the hen)

-Cover with extra soil as necessary

This could be really cool to do with mismatched thrift store teacups, or any chipped or irregular teacups you may have lying around.

If you try this DIY, be sure to send pics-would love to see what you come up with!

What to Wear (Under) There: Let's Talk Bras

Screen Shot 2012-08-27 at 9.14.52 PMLet's talk about bras. Yes, bras. Sometimes, they're truly a girl's best friend, but other times...they can be the bane of her existence. Seriously. The wrong bra can make you feel physically uncomfortable, self conscious and overall just...yucky.

I think my jaw may actually have dropped when I first saw them- they're all gorgeous! We all know that Tiffany & Co. is THE place to go for engagement rings, bracelets, and even sunglasses, but who knew they carried bags?

From the press release:

"The Tiffany Leather Collection is created with time-honored techniques that are executed by skilled artisans. In their hands, every clasp and embellishment, every pocket and seam is perfectly placed and smoothly integrated into the overall design. In addition, these original creations are finished with the hallmarks of Tiffany’s heritage, including custom-designed hardware, Tiffany Blue leather interiors, Tiffany Blue® enamel and subtle Tiffany & Co. logos. Collectively, they represent the attention to detail that makes for a fashion essential of enduring style.

The Tiffany Leather Collection ranges from $50 to $17,500. The collection is available at select Tiffany locations. For more information, please visit tiffany.com."

I'm in love. The colors are gorgeous, the details exquisite, and I can already image the buttery feeling of the leather. Absolutely fabulous...

Ps- those adorable totes in the last photo? They're reversible!

He Said/She Said: Birchbox Edition

I'm very excited to share a new series that you'll hopefully be seeing a lot more of on the blog called He Said/She Said. Basically, I'm partnering up with my friend and former RA, Dan Chiz, to give you the male and female perspectives on different trends, products and more.

image from farm8.staticflickr.comOur first topic: Birchbox.

If you haven't heard about Birchbox, it's safe to say you're living under a rock (or are a "real" adult).

From the site:

Birchbox delivers the best products and the best insider secrets, without any fuss. Every month Birchbox members will receive a curated box of luxe beauty samples. Each box will span beauty categories and deliver exciting products that fit into both your day-to-day routine, and into those days when you want to turn up the drama a notch.

Birchbox was kind enough to send each of us our own pretty package (Women's retails for $10/month, Men's for $20/month), and here's what we thought:

image from farm9.staticflickr.comWhich product would you recommend/buy after trying?

He Said: The Eshu Shave Gel is by far my fav. It smells so good and works super well. My face is very sensitive and this doesn't irritate--it actually helps! I am 100% buying the product in the future.

She Said: I LOVED the Origins Checks and Balances face wash. It made my face feel clean and taut after washing, and the smell is great. I'd definitely consider buying the full size version...just have to finish my regular face wash.

image from farm9.staticflickr.comWill you sign up?

He Said: HELL YEAH! I love it! It's a great way to get exposed to new grooming and beauty products!

She Said: I really want to say yes, but at this point, I have so many beauty samples and freebies lying around (thank you Nordstrom Anniversary Sale blogger preview), I'm not ready for more. As a blogger, I often receive products to review and they end up piling up in my cabinet. That being said, if you aren't currently overwhelmed by the amount of products in your makeup box (a terrible problem to have, I know haha), I'd say go for it! The price is right and there are few things more fun than getting packages.

But wait, there's more! Head over to Dan's post to see the rest of our answers and some fun photos of the Men's box!

Kate Spade en Rose

image from farm9.staticflickr.comimage from farm9.staticflickr.comimage from farm9.staticflickr.comimage from farm9.staticflickr.comThis Kate Spade bag and I? We've been pretty inseparable. Isn't she gorgeous? Special thanks to my stepmom, Donna, for gifting her (and the cute Beverly Hills Hotel pen) to me during a recent trip to the Rehoboth outlets.

Want to get your own? The Kate Spade sample sale ends tonight, and this one is pretty similar to mine!

#ShineOn with GapKids & babyGap

This post is sponsored by GapKids. Check out all the fun Shine On activities at your nearest Gap store. For event dates and locations, visit Gap’s Facebook page and join the conversation on Twitter with hashtag #ShineOn.

Just a fun little post about a cool project going on at GapKids/babyGap stores around the country. I know I'm not a kid (or a parent), but I thought this opportunity was too fun not to share.

GapKids invites you to "unleash your inner artist" with a series of fun craft projects designed by Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag. All of the projects are inspired by the fall GapKids and babyGap collections, which is pretty awesome.

Head over to select GapKids locations for Shine On Saturdays, where you (and your kids) can create custom journals and more.  IMHO, arts & crafts are fun for people of all ages, making this event perfect for everyone (My friend Jamie even mentioned she wants to check out this event herself!).

So...anyone want to go with me/lend me your kid for an afternoon?

For those of you in and around Boston, you can attend these events on August 18, 10-1 at the Natick Mall GapKids location or August 25 10-1 at the South Shore Plaza GapKids location.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

What To Wear There: The Cape

This Post is Brought to You by Nordstrom.

What-to-wear-there-the-capeI had so much fun putting together this breezy, flirty look. Best of all? Everything is available at Nordstrom! I imagine I'd pack this cute, straw tote with sunscreen, a bottle of water and my kindle, plop down on the beach and spend the afternoon reading. Alternatively,  it would be a great outfit to wear for a shopping excursion! The shoes are comfy enough to walk in and the hat would shield my porcelain skin from the sun, because sunburns...they're never in style!.

Get The Look: Dress | Bag* | Lip Color | Bracelets (4,5) | Sandals | iPhone Cover | Hat* | Sunglasses.

* This item is no longer available online. Please call Nordstrom (I like the South Shore location) and they'll be more than happy to help you find the item.

DIY Sneak Peek

image from farm8.staticflickr.com image from farm8.staticflickr.com image from farm9.staticflickr.comJust a few fun shots from a weekend DIY Eric and I dreamed up. The best part? The only thing we paid for was the spray paint! The cubes were originally purchased at Target and lived in my old apartment, and the mirrors were salvaged from the trash.

I can't wait for this DIY to be complete. Stay tuned for more!

Anyone else DIY this weekend?
