Petite Friendly Skater Dress

Would you believe me if I told you I wore this outfit to the dog park? Well, I did, and I looked completely ridiculous. I thought we were taking Maggie to the Buttery to grab breakfast, but our plans changed and I ended up wearing these 5 inch platforms amongst the flip flop and  sneaker clad pet owners.

This petite friendly skater dress is a new addition to my closet. I'm loving so many of the ASOS dresses right now, but I chose this one due to its fun open back. I paired it with a bright colored bandeau (it looked pretty ridiculous with bra straps peeking out, so the bandeau seemed the only logical route) and a fun new  Amrita Singh mint tote I picked up at a MAJOR discount from Hautelook.

I love this look and can't wait to wear it again!

Frisbee Date

The weather was so gorgeous this weekend, we decided to hop in the car and head out of the city for a little fresh air and fun with the pup. We ended up going to the Pope John Paul II Reservation (yes, that's its actual name...) in Neponset, a park with lots of space for Maggie to run and tons of new things for her to sniff.

Maggie got to test out her new frisbee (she's not much of a retriever, but we're working on it!) and I got to show off my horrible hand/eye coordination.

Also notable? We ran into Sami, which was a huge surprise. It's always exciting to run into people you know in the city, but in the suburbs? Now that's a treat!

The highlight of my weekend was testing out a fun tidbit Eric picked up about Maggie. Though she doesn't always respond to "come" or "Maggie, COME!", the word "goodbye" has some sort of magical effect on her. She could be half way across the park, but as soon as she hears those two syllables and sees a turned back, she's immediately by your side. 

Just curious, does anyone else's pooch have the same response?

Celebrating with Tiffany & Co.

I recently had the pleasure of attending an event at the Tiffany & Co. store in Chestnut Hill celebrating the brand's 175 years and the release of their new Rubedo Metal. It was fun to try on the jewelry (I loved the weight and feeling of a Rubedo bracelet on my wrist), but it was even more fun trying on Tiffany's sunglasses! Yes, I said sunglasses. Some were Tiffany's blue, some had embellished arms and corners and all were super cute. (If anyone has the picture of me and Amy wearing our sunglasses, please send my way- whoever took the photo with my camera didn't focus on our faces, and instead got a shot of some random people behind us- oops! #DSLRproblems).

Overexposed/Super Saturated

On Saturday afternoon we had a picnic in the park. The weather was gorgeous, food was delicious and Maggie was on her best (ish) behavior. We took a bunch of photos, most of which ended up being overexposed, so I took the liberty of having a little fun with them. I bumped up the saturation, and altered the temperature to show the heat of the day. Sure, I could have trashed the photos, but instead, I made art :)

Fun Things to Do in Boston this Week

Petite Mint Denim + New Top + Fun Watch

See how clean, fun and bright this outfit looks? Funny story- it got completely destroyed about an hour after we took these photos. I guess that's what happens when you take your dog to the beach!

Have no fear, I cleaned off the lipstick stained top (couldn't scratch my nose with sand-covered fingers!) and dirty pawprint covered denim with some good old fashioned OxiClean- that stuff is amazing.

Friday's Fancies: Derby Day!

I'm from Baltimore, so I'm pretty familiar with the Triple Crown. It's funny, the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness seem to be two very different animals. For example, when my friends used to go to the Preakness, I don't think they put much thought into their outfits- it was more about bringing in coolers of cheap beer. 

Anyway, this is what I would wear to the Derby. I'd probably stash a pair of flats in my purse as well- I'm sure those stands are not heel friendly!

Happy 1st birthday to the prettiest, sweetest, fluffiest, funniest pup in the South End. We love you, Maggie. Thank you for continuing to enrich our lives everyday. Now that you're a "grown up", maybe we can work on not chewing up my bedspread... 

Designers Circus: an Explosion of Color

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending a blogger event at Designers Circus in Allston. At first, I was hesitant about attending because I'd never heard of it and wasn't looking forward to hanging out in Allston (it reminds me of BU frat parties).

I'm so glad I made the "trek" out there. Though I think I may have been the only blogger in attendance, I still had fun. Lisa, who coordinates all their events, was extremely knowledgeable about all of the designers and the store's history. I scored 3 dresses, a top and a bracelet, all of which you'd swear came from Anthropologie, for under $100!

I'm hoping to partner with Designers Circus to bring more bloggers to their amazing gem of a shop. Sure, a lot of the inventory definitely wasn't me (I think their customer base skews older), but I found a few designers that I really loved. Plus, their accessories are amazing and they're constantly getting new inventory. If you're looking for something a unique piece at a great price, Designer Circus is the place to go.
