Maybe I've been watching too many Taylor Swift music videos, or maybe it's the fact that I'm safe and cozy inside on a rainy day, but all I know is that I'm content. A little hungry, but very content.
As I sit here alone in Eric's room, waiting for him to get home from work, I know I'm happy. I feel like such a lucky girl- I have the support and love of great family and friends, a boyfriend who just seems to get me and a great, big unknown future ahead of me- a future that is bound to be full of great things.
Sure, I'm always scared about the unknown, but right now, in this exact moment, I'm content.
As I advanced through high school, our dress code only got more strict. What was initially a "no jeans" and "mandatory collared shirt" policy eventually evolved into a "only pants/skirts in neutral colors" and "Land's End polo shirts in approved colors with a school logo" mandate.
These navy pants are from that period in my life and have rarely made an appearance since then. Maybe it's because they're so billowy, or maybe it's because I had to wear them to school, but they've really been sitting in my drawer for years!
I must say though, they are extremely comfortable and fit surprisingly well. They're a size 0 short, and if I wear heels, they don't need any alterations!
How cute is Zooey? Please don't steal her, she's my closest confidante and BFF right now!
Oh, and this strapless top? Totally not Beth Tfiloh friendly ;)
Outfit details: Top- Old Navy, Belt- Primark, Pants- Aeropostale (cringe), Shoes- DSW?
By now I'm sure you've all hear about the Katy Perry Sesame Street fiasco, which I think is sort of ridiculous for a few reasons:
Here's the video, in case you didn't have a chance to see it:
After watching this video, I got to thinking- How much skin is too much skin...in the workplace?
In terms of workplace attire, what is appropriate and what is not? Do skirts require stockings? Should you cover your knees? What about sleeveless tops, and dare I ask, a "respectable" amount of cleavage? Are shorts ever acceptable?
Weigh in ladies: what are your definite work place outfit no-nos?
Also, check out the SNL parody- pretty funny, no?
Wait, you weren't talking about shoes? Seriously? Ok, technically, neither was I, but let's face it, I talk about them a lot.
Anyway, Target is having a BOGO type sale on shoes, as in buy one pair, get the second half off. If I wasn't restricting my shoe buying, I would totally go for it, especially with free shipping when you spend more than $50 on about a gazillion items.
If I were to go shoe shopping though, these would be a few of my picks:
Something about these Anne Michelle by Journee Ankle Boots just screams "Victoria Beckham in the snow." Seriously, they bring back memories of that scene from Spice World where the girls are all dressed in camo for training, and Posh yells "I can't run in these shoes!"
Wow. These Mossimo Supply Co. Katherine Leather Engineer Boots are really nice, especially for Target. I love the smell and feel of leather boots, is that weird? Also, I love that they're called "Engineer Boots." Science is sexy.
These Mossimo Black Pembroke Snip-Toe Pumps are all studs, buckles and ankle straps...my favorite things all in one shoe!
I'm in love with grey this season, and these Merona Kamischel Suede Lug Boots are truly beautiful. Come to think of it, I don't actually own any grey shoes, so that sort of serves as justification to buy them, right? Just kidding!
These red Glaze by Adi Rose Trim High Heel Platform Booties are totally fun, but totally impractical. Still, I'm picturing them with skinny jeans and any of a number of red coats I'll be wearing from now until Spring.
These Xhilaration Tabitha Faux Suede Peep Toe Pumps are totally party shoes, and they remind me of a pair from Madden Girl that I've been eyeing for practically the entire summer! (I think I still like the MG ones better though.)
See anything you like? Want to buy them so I can live vicariously through you?
Sigh. I absolutely adore this necklace from Strut...it encompasses many of my favorite things: pink, flowers, keys and fake birds. Too bad I can't win it myself! I love that you can store little secrets or photos in the locket. I'd probably use it to store pressed flowers.
A few details about the necklace:
"Only you hold the key to this embossed silver locket. A pink acrylic blossom and tiny silver bird will keep your secrets safe inside! Key charm is 2″ tall. Aged gold chain is 16″ long. Metal alloy."
To enter: Go to shopstrut.com, choose your favorite item, and tell us about it in the comments! (FYI, my current favorite item is the Glam Rock Dress.)
Details: Contest will run from Tuesday September 21 @ 12:00 pm - Tuesday September 28th @ 12:00 pm. Winner will be announced shortly after. Open to US residents only.
I love lace, I really, really do. I love combining girly pieces with more masculine, edgy items, like a leather jacket or something with studs. It's that mix of soft and hard, good girl/bad girl that I really love, and I can't wait to incorporate it into my wardrobe this season.
I just bought this skirt (on sale!) at Target for under $12 (for some reason it's not on sale online) and I'm waiting for the weather to get a little cooler to bust it out in true G3B style. I know a lot of you might shun the color pink, especially when it's combined with super girly lace, but the skirt also comes in black, grey and white. I'd suggest snapping this baby up- it'll be a great addition to your existing wardrobe.
And the winner of the Embelle Boutique "Red Hot" Date Night look is:
Kate from Suburban Sweetheart!
Congrats Kate, you're definitely going to impress that boy of yours!
