Casual Friday: Stacked Heels

May 31, 2010

One of my favorite things about working in a corporate setting is that I get to put together cute outfits everyday. Typically, I select an outfit the night before and hang it on my bookshelf in order to save time in the morning.

Sometimes my outfit choices don't look as cute in the morning as they did the night before, but usually they do. In terms of work appropriate attire, I tend to go stylish corporate, a term I literally made up a second ago.  I usually lean towards a fun dress and cardigan pulled together with an amazing pair of shoes. While I could technically wear jeans to work, I think I'm going to try to save them for Fridays, when work attire seems to get more casual.

Here's my first "Casual Friday" look (taken with the help of my camera's self timer and a borrowed tripod), complete with a new pair of super tall shoes. I bought them on a whim at an impromptu trip to DSW. I had a pretty lonely first week at work and needed to do something to cheer myself up. I ended up purchasing these shoes, as well as a really interesting pair of bike chick-esque flip flops- you'll have to see them to understand.

The great thing about these shoes is that although they're not the most comfortable, they make me super tall...well, I guess it's all relative. It was like I was looking at the world as a different person- I could see more things over the tops of cubicles, I had to look up at people less when speaking...

Shirt: H&M
Jeans: Loehmann's
Shoes: Steve Madden, via DSW
Earrings: a boutique in San Francisco
Necklace: Primark

Snaps of the apartment!

May 30, 2010

It's official, Comcast has disappointed us once again and I STILL have no Internet. It's extremely frustrating and highly unprofessional. I was expecting my Internet to be installed between 12 and 3 yesterday, and then we got a call saying they'd come between 4 and 5. No one ever came, and I was forced to spend a good part of the day in the apartment when I could have been out having fun with Eric.

Fortunately, he's a good sport and we did have a lot of fun yesterday when we weren't sitting around waiting. Pictures to come!

Here are a few I took from around my house the other day:

Roses from my stepmom, cooking things and my dining room.

More to come when I get my own Internet.....

It's true, I've graduated. I'm a grown up. I have an apartment (photos to come), an internship with PayPal and a new car. Life is good. Only problem? I still don't have Internet. (I'm currently at my dad's house using my stepmom's computer.)

I promise I have a lot to share with you, and I will, as soon as I have Internet in my apartment. For now, here are a few of my dad's photos from graduation:

Telegram

May 23, 2010

Currently subsisting on someone else's two bars of Internet. Stop. I feel like I'm writing a telegram. Stop. Not enough juice to upload pictures. Stop. And I don't even know if this post will go up or if the Internet will just disappear. Stop.

I've been having an extremely difficult time getting Internet in the new apartment- the two guys Comcast sent over, or as my Dad likes to say, the "delinquents" that came to set up my Internet were scary and unhelpful. The lady at Verizon told me I'm spoiled and get my daddy to do everything for me. My dog chewed through one of my favorite sandals, and I apparently ate my dinner out of a cat bowl.

Tomorrow can only be better. Cross your fingers that I'll have Internet by the end of the week.

First day pink

So today was supposed to be my first day at my new job. I wanted to make a good first impression, so I made sure to pick out an outfit I really loved and felt cute in.

Unfortunately for me, I only ended up staying at the office for a few hours because my computer wasn't ready, so I got lunch with my family instead at Paper Moon Diner.

The restaurant is super quirky and makes great food. I'm really glad we got to go, although I did feel a little dressed up!

Thanks to Natalie for taking these photos!

Excuses, excuses

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry about my recent absence. I just moved into my new place yesterday and won't be getting internet at least until Saturday. It's no fun, believe me. Without a TV or the internet, I can't watch any of my shows!

I did actually start work today, but because they didn't have my computer set up, I was sent home early. Luckily, I have tons of apartment things to do today.

I'll be back as soon as I can with lots of photos, stories and probably embarrassing work antics. Don't desert me now- I miss you guys!

Love always,

Here are some of my favorite shots from my weekend in Boston. Don't worry, there are tons of actual graduation photos to come, I just didn't take them! All of these snaps, minus the cute kitty, were taken on a sunny afternoon spent working on a project with my friend Eric. He's one of the most creative people I know, and you can see it in practically everything he does. From his amazing homemade ravioli to his tasteful yet stylish apartment, Eric possesses a truly unique ability to make ordinary things beautiful.

Expect some of Eric's amazing talent on the blog in the near future. You will be shocked, wowed and possibly a little jealous!

And yes, Eric did take me on his Vespa. Lesson learned: don't wear a sundress while riding on the back of a Vespa unless you want the world to get a great view of your legs.

Week 3: 15 minute cleaning

Weekly-goals3

Week 2 recap:

Unlike Week 1's epic fail, Week 2 went surprisingly well! Because I left my goal pretty open ended and vague, I ended up completing it. I made sure to drink water for at least one meal a day and it definitely wasn't too difficult. In fact, I think I'm going to try to make this goal a permanent part of my daily routine.

Week 3 overview:

This week, I'll be moving into a new apartment and starting a new job. Even though I'm going to be very busy, I need to make time to keep my new home looking tidy and beautiful. In general, I tend to organize rather than clean, meaning I'll dump out the entire contents of my closet and slowly put pieces back in an organized fashion. This tends to leave my room messier than before.

I don't think that cleaning has to be painful- if  I do a little everyday, I won't end up driving myself crazy having to clean the entire apartment at once. Plus, I'm sure a lot of people will want to come visit, and I don't want to come off as a slob.

So, here's what I propose:

This week, I'm going to make it my goal to designate 15 minutes a day for cleaning/tidying my apartment.

This could include small tasks such as emptying the dishwasher, keeping the bathroom organized, etc.  I don't want to make it super specific, because I'd like to succeed!

Anyone want to do it with me?

Milestones

It's been all sorts of crazy over at the G3B residence. Lot of exciting stuff going on over here, folks. Because it's 12:00 and I have to leave my house in approximately six hours to catch a flight to Boston, I'm going to be especially brief.

Here's the deal:

  1. At 4 pm this Sunday, my family and I will be attending my college graduation. Just two and a half hours later, I will be the proud owner of a diploma boasting my BS in Communication.
  2. My apartment is on its way to becoming an amazing home. Though it's still missing most of my furniture, it is housing a majority of my shoes and clothing, as well as a two cute couches and a bunch of Cuisinart steals from Rue La La.
  3. I got a job, at least for the summer. I start work on Wednesday and I'm going to get to do some really awesome stuff. Stay tuned.
  4. My little sister comes home from Israel on June 3rd for the rest of the summer.
  5. Thibault is coming to visit me for two weeks in June!
...and that's all for now. Hopefully all this excitement won't get in the way of me falling asleep tonight!

Just a laugh

IMAG0018

My dad took this photo in the parking lot before Lauren's lacrosse game. We both thought these bumper stickers were pretty funny, so of course my dad had to stop and take a picture.

I think, no, I know, that my sense of humor is being shaped my by father. Seriously, I find myself making Jewish dad-like jokes all the time.

Is this happening to anyone else?
